Closed storm surge barrier.The Maeslantkering is a storm surge barrier in the Nieuwe Waterweg waterway located between the towns of Hoek van Holland and Maassluis, Netherlands, 51 57'15"N 04 09'50"E, which automatically closes when needed. It is part of the Delta Works & the largest moving structure on earth. It closes only when there is a storm in combination with very high tide. .This will happen once in about 5 years.
